Background
Mahler4 offers a prestigious international business and residential environment. The area is very close to Station Amsterdam Zuid/WTC, Schiphol and the A10 motorway, but ready accessibility is not all that makes it so attractive. Mahler4 is a meeting place for business users and residents alike. There are bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, pleasant public spaces, shops and a fitness centre. Mahler4 features office buildings of exceptional architectural quality. Renowned international law firms, consultancies and innovative businesses have already made this area their European 'homebase'. The ‘New Amsterdam’ tower block offers luxury rental and owner-occupied apartments, with a swimming pool, gym and sauna on site. Between Mahler4 and the imposing ABN-AMRO Bank head office is Gustav Mahlerplein, where an interesting art collection is on show.
Much attention has been devoted to greenery in this zone. Several of the office buildings in Mahler4 have inner courtyards with plants and water features, many of which are open to the public. Most buildings have a fully-planted roof terrace, while the Ito Building features huge spaces of greenery inside and out. All buildings have an underground heat storage system.
Beneath Mahlerlaan is the 500-metre Integrated Connections Tunnel which, as the name suggests, houses all cables and pipelines for gas, electricity, telecommunications, water, drainage, district heating and – for the first time in the Netherlands – centralized air conditioning. This concept makes far more efficient use of the underground space and ensures that roads need not be dug up when new connections are laid or when maintenance is required.

Planning
Mahler4 will be the first Zuidas zone to be completed. At the end of 2010, the area will be transferred to the city district Amsterdam Zuid.

Mahler4 is in the very heart of the Zuidas district, bounded by Parnassusweg, Gustav Mahlerlaan, Mahlerplein and the A10 peripheral highway.
