Background

Strawinsky is the area bounded by Parnassusweg, Beethovenstraat, Prinses Irenestraat and Mathijs Vermeulenpad. Strawinskylaan, Zuidplein and WTC will form the vibrant setting for one of the most important transport hubs in the Netherlands: Station Amsterdam Zuid.

Some 40% of the northern side of Strawinskylaan is to be given over to residential use, while the lower storeys of the planned office blocks will accommodate various public amenities. Strawinskylaan is therefore to become a truly multifunctional, vital thoroughfare, seen and enjoyed by thousands of people every day who use Station Zuid and the planned Noord/Zuid metro line.

The section he main east-west cycle route through Amsterdam that now runs along Strawinskylaan may be rerouted via Prinses Irenestraat. Various measures will be taken to maximize safety.

  • Residential: 41,500 m² on the northern side of Strawinskylaan.
  • Commercial: 282,000 m², including the WTC, Atrium, Stibbe Tower and various office buildings (existing and new) on the northern side of Strawinskylaan.
  • Amenities: 28,000 m² (various uses).
  • Project principals: current real estate owners.
  • Racks for approximately 4,000 bicycles (beneath Zuidplein, the Strawinsky flyover and Mathijs Vermeulenpad).
     

Accessibility

  • Journey time to Schiphol Airport: 6 minutes
  • Walking time to Station Zuid: two minutes
  • Public transport: Metro Lines 50 and 51, Tram 5, buses 15, 62 ,142, 176, etc.
